Proof of concept - electronic knit
In 2021, Clara Daguin partnered with the IFTH (French Institute of Textiles and Clothing) to push the boundaries of "second-skin" technology through a pioneering interactive bodysuit. Moving beyond simply embedding electronics into fabric, this project utilized knitted conductive yarn to integrate circuitry directly into the garment’s structure. The suit transformed the wearer's anatomy into a functional interface, using strategic stretch sensors at the elbows and knees to capture movement, which in turn activated pulsing LEDs on the breast. When brought to life by a dancer, the bodysuit served as a seamless bridge between choreography and code, proving that complex technology can be as fluid and expressive as a physical performance.
